Special Lecture for “Kawai Juku” Held – Fundamentals of Small-Angle Scattering: Nanostructure Analysis of Soft Materials.
On November 26, 2025, a special lecture for “Kawai Juku” was held, titled “Fundamentals of Small-Angle Scattering: Nanostructure Analysis of Soft Materials,” featuring Professor Katsuhiro Yamamoto of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Shinshu University.

This course is an educational series held monthly, aiming to systematically deepen the foundational understanding of polymer materials. In the lecture, Professor Yamamoto provided an easy-to-understand introduction, from the basics to the applications, of structural analysis of soft materials through the complementary use of X-ray and neutron scattering.

Based on Professor Yamamoto’s numerous research examples, the explanation provided a very meaningful opportunity to deepen our understanding of the potential for utilizing synchrotron radiation and neutron beams in soft material research.
As this was a special lecture, the participants engaged in even more intense discussions than usual, and everyone deepened their understanding.
