Report on the “Tohoku University Graduate School of Engineering × the Research Center for Green X-Tech Symposium”
On February 20 (Fri), 2026, the Graduate School of Engineering at Tohoku University and the Research Center for Green X-Tech of the Organization for Promoting Tohoku University Reconstruction co-hosted the “Tohoku University Graduate School of Engineering × the Research Center for Green X-Tech Symposium“ at the Tokyo Midtown Yaesu Conference center.
The symposium was organized to showcase initiatives for bridging fundamental scientific achievements with industrial application and social implementation. It aimed to share practical roadmaps for transforming research “discoveries” into “implementation” through specific case studies from various research centers.
The event featured lectures, center introductions, and research case studies presented by Professor Tomonaga Okabe (Director of the Research Center for Green X-Tech), Professor Kazuhiko Komatsu (Data Science Unit), and Professor Toshinori Kuwahara (Space Cross-Tech Center). These sessions, followed by a panel discussion, sparked lively debate regarding the potential for industry-academia-government co-creation and the challenges involved in social implementation.
The symposium concluded successfully, providing participants with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of the latest research outcomes and future prospects.

Based on the discussions from this symposium, the Graduate School of Engineering at Tohoku University and the Research Center for Green X–Tech will continue to further promote the social implementation of research outcomes and the creation of new co-collaborations by working closely with industry, local governments, and research institutions.
