news

On March 11 (Wed) and 12 (Thu), 2026, the Research Center for Green X-Tech of the Organization for Promoting Tohoku University Reconstruction hosted the international symposium “Synchrotron Frontier 2026.” Held at Tohoku University’s Aobayama Campus and the vicinity of NanoTerasu (SRIS 1F Entrepreneur Hall), the two-day event brought together leading international researchers, early-career scientists, and students.

The symposium was designed to share the forefront of material science research utilizing synchrotron radiation. It also aimed to foster interdisciplinary and practical research collaborations by discussing the future of next-generation research platforms through the integration of spectroscopy, physical property exploration, and data science.

Discussions spanned a wide range of cross-disciplinary themes—from material and device research based on synchrotron measurement to advanced detector instrumentation and the application of AI in data analysis—all accompanied by vibrant Q&A sessions.

Building on the discussions and networks established through this symposium, the Research Center for Green X-Tech will continue to drive further advancements in material science research utilizing synchrotron radiation and promote the creation of research collaborations that bridge spectroscopy, physical property exploration, and data science.
